As our Summer Trainee in Application Software Development, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development and verification of motor and grid control solutions that power energy-efficient drive systems.

Your impact? You’ll help improve the quality, reliability, and performance of software and control applications used globally in AC drives. Through simulations, programming, and testing, your contributions will directly support customer needs and Danfoss Drives’ mission to enable a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Software Development team in Vaasa, working across software, control, and application development, and take ownership of hands-on tasks in both simulation and laboratory environments—helping us move toward a more innovative and sustainable future.

Position is located in Vaasa.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform simulations and programming using MATLAB / Simulink to support motor and grid control development.
  • Program and configure IEC-based PLC solutions, including platforms such as Beckhoff and Siemens
  • Develop new verification methods using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation environments and AC drives in laboratory settings.
  • Test products in various operational environments to ensure robustness and quality.
  • Maintain and support the development environment and infrastructure, continuously learning and sharing knowledge within the team.

What We're Looking For
  • Completion of at least three years of B.Sc. or M.Sc. studies in a relevant engineering field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Power Electronics)
  • Interest or basic experience in software, control, or application development for power electronics or automation systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, while taking initiative and ownership of tasks
  • Good communication skills in English and at least a basic command of Finnish
  • A mindset focused on learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Salary range for our Summer Trainees: 2200-2860 € per month, based on level of studies and study points.
