We are hiring a Substation Electrical Engineer to support the supervision and delivery of high-voltage substation projects in Oman. This role will work closely with the Resident Engineer to ensure electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with approved drawings, method statements, contract documents, and applicable standards.
Your mission
As a Substation Electrical Engineer, you will assist in overseeing on-site construction activities, contractor performance, and quality assurance while ensuring safety and compliance at every stage of the project.
Key responsibilities
Assist the Resident Engineer with day-to-day supervision of HV substation electrical works
Conduct regular site inspections to verify contractor performance and compliance with drawings and approved methods
Coordinate with technical disciplines and attend Site Technical Coordination Meetings
Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and construction-related documents
Monitor and witness construction and testing activities to ensure contract compliance
Support final inspections, completion certification, and handover
Ensure effective implementation of safety standards and procedures on site
What we’re looking for
Qualifications & experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (approved by relevant authorities)
Minimum 8 years’ experience in electrical engineering projects with proven experience in substation works
OETC approval is preferred
Previous experience working with OETC or other major utilities is highly desirable
Technical expertise
Strong knowledge of HV substation engineering and construction practices
Skilled in reviewing technical submissions, shop drawings, and method statements
Familiar with local authority standards and utility requirements
Experienced in site supervision, contractor coordination, and quality inspections
Soft skills
Strong interpersonal and coordination abilities
Detail-oriented and proactive in resolving site/technical issues
Comfortable working in multicultural, fast-paced environments
