Job Summary

Are you ready to redefine the future of financial advice in Australia? Join HUB24, a leading fintech innovator, and help us build platforms that empower advisers and make quality financial guidance accessible to all Australians. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering scalable, high-performance solutions that transform how financial advice is delivered. You’ll work on complex systems, mentor talented engineers, and influence technical direction across our product suite.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build innovative applications used by thousands of financial advisers nationwide
  • Implement and maintain robust, scalable services and microservices
  • Develop and optimise APIs (public and private) for seamless integrations
  • Lead by example—mentor engineers, champion best practices, and drive technical excellence
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, QA, Architecture, and DevOps teams
  • Implement advanced caching strategies and optimise data retrieval for high performance
  • Ensure robust security measures compliant with financial industry regulations
  • Create and maintain comprehensive developer documentation and coding standards
  • Perform peer code reviews and manage technical debt
  • Support system maintenance and provide technical support as needed
  • Champion Agile practices and actively participate in ceremonies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Software Engineer or in a senior technical position
  • Proficiency in Node.js (Nest.js a bonus)
  • Strong web development skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and at least one web application framework
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and non-relational databases (MongoDB a bonus)
  • Cloud-based development experience (GCP a bonus)
  • Practical experience with automated unit testing
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experience designing and developing enterprise-grade software
  • Excellent understanding of SDLC and Scrum Agile framework
  • Experience with source control (Git) and CI/CD environments
  • Experience with debugging, performance profiling, and optimisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable / Optional Skills

  • Experience with DuckDB or other data caching technologies
  • Golang experience
  • Microsoft .NET development (C# .NET Core)
  • Experience in financial software platform development
  • Experience facilitating developer community workshops
