To further scale our growing business, we are looking for an experienced Staff Android Engineer.
The Role
As a Staff Android Engineer, you are part of a rapidly growing Engineering and Product department driving Oviva forward. In close collaboration with Product Management, Design, Quality Assurance and other internal stakeholders, you and your team are building and contributing to Oviva’s mobile products that our patients interact with—and as such, have a strong positive social impact.
You’re working in an agile environment and are a senior member of a cross-functional squad designing, implementing and delivering great new features to our patient-facing apps.
Job requirements
We're seeking someone who brings both deep technical expertise and a collaborative, forward-thinking mindset. You’ll join a team that values clarity, autonomy, and doing the meaningful thing.
Essential Skills:
- Proven problem-solver with a proactive approach and strong ownership mentality, capable of independently navigating complex challenges and driving solutions
- Excels in strong, efficient, and precise communication, facilitating seamless collaboration and informed decision-making with both technical peers and business stakeholders
- A collaborative contributor who supports team success and builds a productive environment
- Extensive and demonstrable experience in the full lifecycle of Android development
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, with a strong understanding of its best practices (Java is a plus)
- Applies a deep curiosity for AI and emerging technologies to proactively explore and evaluate their potential application within the Android ecosystem
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software development
Desirable:
- Strong knowledge of Android architectures (MVVM, MVI, MVP)
- Experience with Android SDK including Support libraries (AndroidX, Compose, Navigation)
- Familiarity with Android libraries such as Hilt, Dagger, Retrofit, Coil, Picasso, Room
Job responsibilities
As a part of the team, you would:
- Developing and maintaining Oviva's mobile apps by implementing new features or improving and maintaining existing ones
- Collaborating with squad members on quality, technical design, security & architecture in compliance with standards and concepts
- Fixing bugs including proper root cause analyses to ensure issues do not occur again
- Participating in product discovery, translating product requirements into technical tasks
- Contributing to agile meetings including standups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and OKR sessions
