We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer who is willing to tackle the challenges of big weather data at Buluttan Weather Intelligence.

Buluttan is an Istanbul-based weather intelligence company providing services worldwide. We are working with large scale weather data and providing critical weather forecasts & alerts & algorithms for various industries. These include, but not limited to, renewable energy, mobility, logistics, etc…

We do love meteorology and would like to mix it with cutting edge technology.

Buluttan is highly invested in climate change research and its effects on people & companies. We do have a social media presence as well where we are trying to create a weather-conscious community.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement regression and classification algorithms to improve the accuracy of short-term weather forecasts, focusing on renewable energy production and extreme weather alerts.
• Deploy machine learning models to production, analyze and track their performance.
• Analyze and interpret spatially complex datasets related to numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, radar and satellite imagery, atmospheric and climate variables.
• Stay ahead of the latest developments in the field of Meteorology & Artificial Intelligence and drive Buluttan’s AI vision in meteorology.

Qualifications

• B.Sc/M.Sc/PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Meteorology, Physics, or any related department.
• 3+ years experience in a Machine Learning related role.
• Strong foundation in Machine Learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Git.
• Experience in working with ML models in production.
• Basic knowledge of MLOps practices.
• Willingness to explore and actively use AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code) tools to accelerate development.
• Trying to follow best software development practices (clean code, testing, version control).
• Proven reputation of problem-solving techniques, attention to detail, stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and professional communication skills.
• Full ownership & capability of managing responsibilities with minimal guidance.

Nice to have

• Experience with foundation models.
• Experience with time series regression & forecasting algorithms.
• Experience working with weather data, radar and satellite image recognition.
• Knowledge of energy markets.
• Customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.
• Having solved Physics based problems.
• Familiarity with GCP & data engineering pipelines.
• Passion for meteorology.
• An active stance on climate change & sustainability.
