The Position
Mergers & Acquisitions is a critical part of Corporate Business Development, playing a vital role in bringing external innovation into Roche. Roche is recognized as a leading deal-maker in the industry, offering a professional in-house team with opportunities for further development both within the team and across the Roche group. This function provides direct exposure to senior management and contributes directly to Roche's external growth strategy.
This position offers a highly motivated and skilled individual the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment as an M&A Director. In this role, you will report to the Head of M&A and lead acquisitions and divestitures across the entire company, including both Pharma and Diagnostics.
The Opportunity
The M&A Director leads the full execution of M&A transactions, requiring a desire for hands-on involvement and the ability to cope with challenges and time pressure.
- Lead the full execution of M&A transactions, which includes project management, overall coordination, deal strategy, and negotiations
- Assume end-to-end responsibility for M&A transactions, leveraging strong knowledge of project management, valuation, finance, and negotiation skills relevant to M&A
- Conduct multi-criteria valuation analysis and financial analysis, and execute deal structuring, including the offer and terms
- Present transaction details to senior management and interact with bankers and other external advisors
- Engage in extensive cross-functional collaboration with Pharma and Dia Partnering teams, Legal M&A, and other corporate functions (e.g., tax, accounting, P&C, IT, treasury, investor relations)
- Train and mentor high-performing colleagues who are earlier in their M&A careers
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management combined with strategic and planning skills
You are a dynamic, pro-active, and fast thinker, with strong personal motivation, drive, high integrity, and reliability.
- A recognized university degree (finance/economics related or a science degree is a plus)
- Over eight years of relevant work experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance/M&A Advisory, Corporate M&A, Consulting, or other financial advisory related work
- Exposure to the life science industry and the US M&A environment is highly desirable
- Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders effectively
- Excellent communication, presentation skills, high rigor, and top analytical and quantitative abilities; business mindset and interest in the Healthcare sector
- English is the working language (oral & written), and additional language skills would be additive
