Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and automation-driven Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen our Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in Hyper-V, Veeam Backup & Disaster Recovery, and Microsoft Azure, especially Azure Landing Zones and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Experience operating in and maturing an ITIL-aligned environment is essential.

Fluency in both German and English is required, both written and verbal.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Hyper-V virtualization platforms with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
• Lead the Veeam backup and disaster recovery strategy, including policy design, testing, and optimization of RTO/RPO.
• Take lead, ownership of, and deploy the primary Azure Landing Zone using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates).
• Provide cloud expertise within the team and help with transformational activities on the journey to the cloud.

• Collaborate with governance and security teams to ensure alignment with ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
• Monitor hybrid workloads and proactively optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
• Be proactive and seek improvements in all services within the environment.
• Contribute to 3rd line IT Support activities to support the IT Service Desk team.
• Strong focus on value delivered versus demand, and customer-centric approach.
• Must be a strong team player who works well with others, contributes ideas, and proactively supports team success.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience with Hyper-V in enterprise environments.
• Able to operate in a typical Microsoft environment.
• Able to investigate and carry out basic Microsoft SQL administration.
• Experience with administration of M365 and core services.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Veeam Backup & Replication, including DR orchestration.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure, especially Landing Zones, RBAC, Networking, and Security.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Advanced scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Git, Terraform, Bicep).
• Experience in operating and maturing an ITIL-aligned infrastructure environment.
• Highly motivated to continuously learn.

Desirable Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
• Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE).
• Experience with hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect, Conditional Access).
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
