We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join a global research team and contribute to cutting-edge drug discovery and development programs. In this role, you will evaluate, develop, and optimize computational methods to analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets and design robust bioinformatics pipelines for both high-performance computing clusters and cloud environments.
You will collaborate with biologists, data analysts, and cross-functional experts across diverse therapeutic areas, including Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases & Vaccines, Neuroscience, and Pharmacokinetics.

Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and optimize computational methods for analyzing NGS datasets (WGS, WES, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell applications)
- Build robust and scalable bioinformatics pipelines using workflow scripting languages (e.g., Nextflow)
- Apply methods for alignment, assembly, variant detection, genome enrichment, and phylogenetics
- Work with common bioinformatics data formats (FASTA, FASTQ, BAM, VCF, etc.)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver actionable insights supporting drug discovery
- Operate solutions efficiently on Linux HPC clusters and cloud platforms
- Contribute to scientific publications and present findings to diverse audiences
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field with 1+ years of experience, OR Master’s degree with 5+ years of bioinformatics experience
- Hands-on experience analyzing NGS datasets (WGS, WES, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell)
- Proficiency with pipeline scripting (e.g., Nextflow)
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or C++ within Unix/Linux environments
- Knowledge of common bioinformatics methods (alignment, assembly, variant calling, enrichment, phylogenetics)
- Familiarity with bioinformatics file formats (FASTA, FASTQ, BAM, VCF)
- Experience with HPC clusters and cloud computing
- Strong track record of publications
- Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)
- Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities
Nice to have
- Experience with containers (Docker, Singularity)
- Familiarity with machine learning applications in bioinformatics

Salary range €4K-€5.6K gross, based on your experience and interview results.
