We are partnering with a highly respected, forward-thinking Media organisation based in London that is entering a pivotal stage of its technology and leadership evolution. They are looking for a CTO to join the business due to an internal promotion. The CTO will be responsible for a team of 300 across Technology based in London, Europe and Asia. They will be responsible for Software Development, Architecture, Software Delivery, AI, Data Platform Transformation, Technology Tooling, Cloud Architecture, Vendor Management, mentoring Management teams and looking after the IT Budget as well as Investments. The company and senior leadership team are evolving so this is an exciting opportunity to join them in this transitional period as they evolve.


Key Responsibilities of the CTO:

  • Set and execute the global Technology strategy, aligning it with business goals and long-term growth plans
  • Lead and inspire large, multi-regional teams across Software Engineering, Architecture, Delivery, IT Operations, AI, and Data and being able to mentor managers to get the most out of their teams.
  • Own the transformation of Data Platforms and Cloud Architecture, driving scalability, resilience, and performance.
  • Oversee Software Development, Architecture and Delivery, ensuring quality, security, and speed to market.
  • Champion innovation across AI, automation, and modern Engineering practices.
  • Manage Enterprise platforms including E-Commerce, CRM, and core business systems.
  • Take full ownership of Third-party Vendor and Partner Management, ensuring value, Governance, and Performance.
  • Lead Technology tooling and infrastructure strategy, with a strong focus on cloud-first and digital first solutions.
  • Mentor and develop Senior Leadership and management teams across the Technology function.
  • Own the technology budget and investment strategy, ensuring effective financial governance and ROI.
  • Act as a key member of the senior leadership team during a period of organisational evolution and change.


Technology Environment the CTO will be responsible for:

The successful CTO will bring experience operating within modern, complex technology ecosystems, including exposure to:

  • Java, JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript
  • AWS/Cloud Architecture
  • MuleSoft, Snowflake
  • Microsoft Dynamics
  • E-Commerce and CRM platforms

(Deep hands-on expertise is not required across all technologies, but strong architectural understanding and leadership within these environments is essential.)


The CTO will have the following experience:

  • Proven experience operating at CTO or senior technology leadership level within large, complex organisations ideally from a Media, Publishing or E-Commerce would be ideal but not essential.
  • Strong background in Software Engineering, Architecture, and Enterprise Technology Delivery.
  • Experience leading large, geographically distributed teams of up to 300 people.
  • Commercially astute, with experience managing significant multi million-pound budgets and technology investments.
  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to influence at board and executive level.
  • Passionate about mentoring, leadership development, and building high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable leading through change and transformation in evolving organisations.
