The UX/UI designer in the HCD Hub is responsible for understanding the needs from the end-user, the business and the product goals, marrying these with tech feasibility and designing the end-to-end UX and UI journeys needed to ship the solution.
- Sydney or Melbourne based
- $127,641 - $144,946 (depending on experience) + 15.4% superannuation

The team
The Digital team, is a part of ASIC's Digital, Data & Technology Office, includes areas such as Regulatory Systems, Digital Communications, and the Human Centred Design (HCD) Hub.
The HCD Hub is an enterprise-wide service driving ASIC's goal to be a digitally enabled, data-informed regulator. It delivers service design and UX/UI expertise, collaborating closely with product owners, project managers, and business teams to implement user-focused, compliant solutions and processes.
The role
As a UX/UI designer with ASIC, you will become part of a team that is passionate about providing high quality internal service to our stakeholders and collaboration partners and creating solutions with and for users, people and businesses in mind.
Other Responsibilities Will Include
- Planning and conducting all aspects of user research from initial conceptual testing through to usability testing. You will need to design the sessions, facilitate the research and complete the analysis.
- Holding stakeholder sessions to understand needs from product and business throughout and translating findings into actions
- Taking all end-user needs, behaviours, pain points, goals, and preferences will translate the learning into actional insights for inputting into the design process from initial concept development through to UI designs
- Designing all user interfaces from low-fidelity conceptual wireframes, to detailed UX designs and high fidelity UI solutions
- Utilising, adhering to and contributing to evolving ASIC's Foundation Design system – supporting ASIC to develop a consistent look, feel and behaviour across our digital channels
- Promoting UX and UI design across the business
A successful applicant should possess the following:
- A minimum of seven years' experience in a UX/UI design role on digital product and service process and experience improvement is a requirement.
- A portfolio of relevant UX/UI design work ideally with work relating to the government/ public, legal, or financial sectors
- UX/UI design experience through research, discovery and iterating development and continuous improvement within a Human Centred Design (HCD) framework
- Experience in working with and utilising a robust design system
- Proven capability in synthesising research findings and user testing into UX insights, identifying themes, and opportunities, and defining desired outcomes based on data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and creating user journeys, wireframes, and low to high fidelity design artefacts and assets
- Highly proficient with Figma tooling and plugins
- Experience in working with and collaborating with developers and engineers with a good grounding understanding of HTML, CSS, CMS, and data base structures.
