ASIC's Cyber Security Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst to join their Threat Operations team.
- Sydney location only
- 24 Month fixed term position
- Salary from $85,659 to $90,750 (depending on experience) + 15.4 % superannuation

The Cyber Security team at ASIC delivers a comprehensive range of services to safeguard the organisation's digital environment. These services include threat monitoring, incident response, security architecture and cyber assurance. The team plays a critical role in protecting ASIC's systems and data, ensuring resilience against cyber threats and supporting the organisation's regulatory mission.
The role
As a Junior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, you will be part of a specialised team dedicated to producing cyber threat intelligence, proactive threat hunting and supporting incident response. In this role, you will conduct investigative activities, address cyber-related queries and contribute to the delivery of the Cyber Uplift Program.
More Specifically, You Will
- Conduct research and analysis on emerging cybersecurity threats, mapping them to structured frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
- Deliver informed threat and impact assessments through structured and technical analysis.
- Examine threat actors from independent entities to Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), leveraging both open-source and proprietary intelligence.
- Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the Threat Intelligence Platform (TIP).
- Perform in-depth reviews of technical and non-technical reports to extract actionable intelligence and communicate findings effectively.
- Provide intelligence-driven analysis to refine and optimise hunting queries, enabling robust cyber investigations, threat-hunting activities, traffic analysis and related requirements.
The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in cybersecurity and threat intelligence. They will have foundational knowledge of incident response, experience analysing security logs and familiarity with security tools. Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering actionable intelligence are essential in this role.
In Addition, You Will Have
- Tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in a cybersecurity role, or in a related analytical or Information Technology discipline.
- Strong passion for cyber investigations and ensuring intelligence remains actionable.
- Foundational knowledge of cyber incident response processes, methodologies, and technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in triaging and analysing security event logs.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, techniques, and concepts designed to safeguard organisations against threats.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
