The following is a list of responsibilities that the candidate is expected to carry in this job. He/She may not necessarily be an expert in all the items listed below but should be an expert in 1/2 items at least.
1) Airfoil polar simulations using tools similar to foi/MSES/CFDl. Also, airfoil design and working with wind tunnel polars will be required to clean-up and/or introduce effect of add-ons like vortex generators and/or serrations.
2) Multi-objective blade optimal design, taking aero, structure, control and loads into account in design process. Familiar with optimization algorithms.
3) Power curve validation of wind turbines and Root Cause Analysis of underperforming turbines.
4) Wind turbine loads simulations/assessment using in-house and commercial tools.
5) Conduct field experiments to validate in-flight blade response and its effect on power performance.
6) Visit prototype turbines on as needed basis for power performance related quality checks/tests.
7) Reviews (with aerodynamic focus) of Blade models, evaluate aero risks and offer mitigation solution.
8) Develop tools (most likely Matlab/python based) as need for task specific requirements.
9) Add-on kits evaluations.
10) 3D CFD simulation.
The candidate should have more 20 years working experience in wind turbine blade aerodynamics. Below is a list of skills that the candidate is expected to use for his/her daily work.
1) Deep understanding of airfoil aerodynamics/performance is required.
2) Deep understanding of wind turbines aerodynamics (BEM theory specifically) is required.
3) Deep knowledge of Matlab/python/Fortran/C/C++, including some knowledge of concepts like Object Oriented Programming and optimization is required. Some knowledge of Python is desired but not required.
4) Experience with handling big data sets is desired but not required.
5) Coordination/communication with international teams is required in this role.
Should be capable of communicating in English with people from different culture.
6) Willingness to travel, within China, is required. (varied travel requirements throughout the year, on average about 20-25%/ Year)
7) Deep understanding of IEC standards, in particular: 61400-1/-11/-12 is desired.
