BIM Specialist/Lead (Building Information Modeling)
The BIM Specialist will spearhead the implementation and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes to support architectural and engineering projects at a Dubai-based design firm. This role emphasizes leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies and automation tools to create and maintain advanced, data-driven BIM models. The specialist will ensure adherence to international standards, promote seamless collaboration across disciplines, support compliance with relevant BIM guidelines, and guide the firm’s transition into a more integrated and data-centric organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Manage BIM Models: Build and maintain accurate, high-quality BIM models for architectural and engineering projects using platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, and other advanced tools.
- Integrate AI Technologies: Utilize AI-driven tools for predictive modelling, clash detection, and design optimization to enhance BIM workflows and project outcomes.
- Ensure BIM Standards Compliance: Implement and monitor international BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650) and relevant BIM guidelines (e.g., BIM and public procurement requirements) to guarantee quality, interoperability, and reliable data exchange.
- Automate Workflows: Leverage Dynamo, Python, and other automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks, optimize design processes, and provide real-time data insights.
- Coordinate with Project Teams: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to align BIM deliverables with project requirements, supported by data-driven decision-making tools.
- Maintain Digital Twins: Contribute to the development and oversight of digital twins for project monitoring, facility management, and predictive maintenance through IoT integration.
- AI Tool Implementation: Research, implement, and train teams on AI-powered tools for generative design, cost estimation, and sustainability analysis within BIM environments.
- Business Acumen: Ensure BIM strategies align with organizational goals, project budgets, and client objectives to create added value and strengthen competitive advantage.
Required Skills
Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, and Python for BIM modelling and automation.
- Expertise in AI tools for AEC, such as generative design platforms (e.g., Autodesk Spacemaker, TestFit) and AI-based clash detection or analytics tools.
- Strong knowledge of BIM standards, particularly ISO 19650, interoperability protocols, and BIM requirements.
- Experience with collaboration platforms like BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar cloud-based solutions.
Domain Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of AEC workflows enhanced by digital process optimization.
- Knowledge of digital twin applications, IoT integration, and predictive analytics for facility management.
- Understanding of machine learning applications in cost estimation, scheduling, and sustainability analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and BIM implementation guidelines for public and private projects.
Collaboration
- Proven ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, integrating AI insights with design and technical domains.
Problem-Solving
- Strong analytical skills to address complex modeling, coordination, and AI-driven data integration challenges.
Qualifications
- Proven experience implementing BIM on medium to large-scale AEC projects, with a focus on technology-enhanced workflows.
- Demonstrated expertise in AI technologies and automation tools applied to BIM and digital twins.
- Proficiency in cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 5–10 years in BIM modelling, coordination, or related roles within the AEC industry, with at least 2 years of experience using AI and automation tools.
- Exposure to BIM regulations (e.g., guidelines and public procurement mandates) and local/regional, international standards.
Languages:
- English: C1 (mandatory for international coordination)
- Spanish/Catalan: B2+ (for studio integration)
