Going where no tech has gone before... into the wild!
At Natlink, we believe technology can deepen rather than replace our connection to nature. If you want to build technology that connects people with nature, this is your chance.
Through our brands WeHunt, Tracker, and Burrel, we empower nearly a million hunters and outdoor enthusiasts across Europe with smarter tools that enhance safety, strengthen community, and make outdoor experiences more engaging.
We build that future by combining innovation, sustainability, and respect for wildlife with the joys of being in nature. Working at Natlink means shaping both hardware and software products that matter while working with passionate colleagues.
Senior Software Engineer
About the job
Natlink is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Platform) to join our team. Join Natlink and help build a large-scale, real-time platform powering mobile apps, IoT devices, and backend services for hundreds of thousands of users — even under extreme peak loads. Our platform must stay reliable when it matters most. We’re looking for engineers passionate about building robust, long-lasting systems — not just shipping features.
Location
· Finland or Sweden / Hybrid / Remote (EU time zones preferred)
Key Responsibilities
· Design, build, and operate backend microservices using .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core)
· Build and evolve client-facing APIs with strong focus on:
- versioning
- backward compatibility
- long-term maintainability
· Work with event-driven systems (Google Pub/Sub, Kafka)
· Improve platform stability, performance, and scalability
· Participate in production support and incident resolution
· Collaborate closely with platform, product, embedded, and mobile teams
· Take end-to-end ownership from design to production
Required Qualifications
· Strong experience with .NET backend development (C#, ASP.NET Core)
· Solid understanding of microservice architectures
· Experience building production-grade APIs
· Experience with messaging systems (Google Pub/Sub and/or Kafka)
· Proven experience running and maintaining production systems
· Strong testing and debugging skills (unit, integration, performance)
· Comfortable with Git and modern development workflows (code reviews, CI/CD)
· Clear communication and documentation skills
· Strong ownership mindset — you care about what happens after deployment
· Willingness to use AI tools responsibly to improve development productivity
Nice-to-have
· Experience with Google Cloud Platform
· Docker and Kubernetes
· Observability (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting)
· Experience with scaling, reliability, and on-call practices
· Experience building shared libraries or platform components
· Experience handling high-volume API traffic (performance tuning, caching, rate limiting)
How we work
· Pragmatic, production-focused engineering
· Ownership over tickets
· Clear APIs over clever abstractions
· Stability and correctness matter as much as delivery speed
What success looks like
· Services you own are stable and predictable in production
· API changes don’t surprise clients
· Incidents are resolved quickly because you understand the system
· Other teams trust your solutions and technical judgment
Who you are
· You’re an experienced backend engineer who thrives on solving complex problems at scale.
· You care about building systems that last and take pride in clean, maintainable code.
· You’re curious and proactive — you don’t just fix issues, you prevent them.
· You value collaboration and clear communication as much as technical excellence.
· Bonus: You share our passion for nature and want to contribute to technology that enhances outdoor experiences.
Why Join us?
· Work on systems that handle real-world scale and real-time constraints
· High technical ownership and autonomy
· Long-lived products with meaningful engineering challenges
· No fake “move fast and break things” culture — we value reliability
· Balance flexibility with connection — We offer a hybrid work model that supports deep focus and real-life collaboration—plus the occasional walk-and-talk in the woods.
· Be part of a growth journey — Natlink is scaling across Europe. You’ll help us grow not just in numbers, but in maturity, clarity, and culture.
Our team consists of almost 100 members working from offices and production sites in Stockholm, Oulu, Aurskog and Katrineholm. We encourage a hybrid working model that balances professional needs with passion for the great outdoors. Natlink is currently on a growth journey - investing to upgrade and take our Nordic market leading products to more users throughout Europe. Can you help us on the path forward?
