We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Project Manager who is willing to relocate to Romania and work for our Romania Branch.

Role Overview

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager is a hands-on technical leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering infrastructure projects across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role requires deep, practical infrastructure knowledge combined with strong project execution skills. The successful candidate is an all-round infrastructure specialist who understands how enterprise environments actually run, can challenge designs, validate implementation steps, and actively guide technical teams to a successful production launch.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Infrastructure Delivery

  • Lead the technical execution of infrastructure projects from design through implementation and go-live
  • Actively review and validate low-level designs, build documents, and configuration plans
  • Translate business and application requirements into concrete infrastructure solutions
  • Ensure infrastructure components are correctly built, integrated, secured, and tested
  • Participate directly in technical discussions, troubleshooting, and implementation planning

Project Planning & Execution

  • Define and manage project scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
  • Create realistic project plans based on actual technical effort and constraints, not theoretical estimates
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities across network, systems, security, database, and middleware teams
  • Track progress, risks, and issues and take corrective actions when delivery is at risk
  • Drive projects through cutover, migration, and production go-live phases

Technical Coordination & Integration

  • Serve as the technical glue between infrastructure domains:
  • Network (Cisco routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Systems (UNIX/Linux, Red Hat, IBM AIX, Windows)
  • Platform & Virtualization (VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes)
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, hybrid connectivity)
  • Security (network security, segmentation, access control)
  • Ensure end-to-end infrastructure integration works in practice, not just on paper
  • Validate that solutions meet requirements for availability, performance, security, and supportability

Operational Readiness

  • Ensure monitoring, logging, backup, patching, and operational procedures are in place before go-live
  • Work closely with operations and support teams to ensure clean handover to run
  • Identify and resolve technical debt or design gaps during project delivery
  • Support post-implementation stabilization and issue resolution

Stakeholder & Vendor Interaction

  • Work directly with engineers, architects, security teams, and application owners
  • Act as a technically credible counterpart to vendors and system integrators, challenging assumptions and deliverables
  • Provide clear, factual status updates based on real technical progress

Desired Skills and Experience

Strong Hands-On Infrastructure Background

  • Solid, practical experience across enterprise infrastructure, including:
  • UNIX/Linux environments (Red Hat, IBM AIX), Windows Server
  • Networking: Cisco LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers
  • Network & Infrastructure Security: firewalls, segmentation, VPNs, access controls
  • Virtualization & Platforms: VMware, containers, Kubernetes / OpenShift
  • Cloud: AWS and/or Azure, hybrid cloud connectivity and security
  • Databases & Middleware: working knowledge sufficient to plan and integrate infrastructure
  • Ability to read, understand, and challenge architecture and design documentation

Delivery & Project Skills

  • Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, not just coordinating them
  • Strong understanding of how infrastructure changes impact operations, security, and availability
  • Experience with migrations, upgrades, data center or cloud transitions
  • Comfortable working in both Agile and traditional infrastructure delivery models

Personal Skills

  • Technically curious, pragmatic, and delivery-focused
  • Able to switch between hands-on technical detail and high-level planning
  • Clear communicator with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Calm and structured under pressure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience
  • 3+ years in a technical project lead or infrastructure project manager role
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA) is a plus, not a substitute for technical depth
  • Technical certifications (Cisco, Red Hat, VMware, Cloud, Kubernetes) are highly valued
  • Experience in mission-critical or regulated environments (e.g., financial services) is an advantage
