About the Role: The role of the Assistant Project Manager is to plan, execute and finalize a project according to an established project schedule/forecast with a strict deadline and within budget. You will be responsible for managing and delivering successful projects in the water/wastewater business. You will interact internally throughout the organization with all levels of disciplines as well as externally with clients. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and 3rd party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the execution of the project from conceptual planning phases through final plans and specifications.
- Provides administrative and technical management over more than one water resource, water treatment, or wastewater project.
- Responsible for establishing periodically reviewing time and hour budgets and meeting those budgets on the projects.
- Periodically review project schedule and progress on the projects.
- Maintains continued relationship with the client after the project is finished to ensure securing future work the client may have and project opportunities.
- Supervises or coordinates several varied assignments simultaneously.
- Evaluate alternatives, work with the engineering and operational team to resolve technical issues, and interface with other disciplines.
- Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
- Work with technical and business development for project reviews and the company management as needed.
- Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work efforts with the team to ensure that work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-to schedule.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering required.
- 5-8 years of progressive experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment with thorough knowledge of methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability in report and technical writing.
- Self-starter with the ability to lead and manage team members and projects.
- The background will ideally include project work and process knowledge of site work, hydraulics, pipeline, and water/wastewater treatment.
- Project Management Profession (PMP) is essential.
- Proficiency in Project Management tools like MS Projects.
- Preferable with a valid driver’s license of class 3.

- Skilled in report and technical writing, organization, analytical and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving and risk management.
- Experience in decision-making, identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving complex problems.
- Demonstrated successful experience in project leadership.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal disciplines, contractors and vendors.
Preferred Skills:
- Project Management Profession (PMP) is essential.
- Proficiency in Project Management tools like MS Projects is a must.
