The opportunity
Our Greater Western Water payroll department is looking for an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join the team. This role is equal to that of a Payroll officer in the corporate market and we are looking for the payroll knowledge that you bring to add to our own diverse team.
We work in a fast-paced environment, like all payroll departments, and our employees depend upon us to process their pays accurately and on time.
Being comfortable with processing new starters, employee changes, secondments, leave, terminations, redundancies, overtime, timesheets, allowances and super and have a strong understanding of Enterprise Agreements and Australian legislation in paying employees is a must for this position.
The role predominantly works in our Sunbury office, but you will be required to come to Footscray for team days with the wider People, Culture and Safety team as required. Our Footscray office is walking distance to the train station and our Sunbury office has staff parking facilities and public bus transport. We also have work from home flexibility.
You will have sound payroll experience of 3 years or more, dealing with both salaried pays along with a rostered workforce.
The role will be responsible for providing payroll operational support across an end-to-end processing function within the People Services team. This role will focus on the timely and accurate maintenance of payroll and employee data throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring data integrity and compliance using Successfactors and PayGlobal.
Responsibilities
- Administration and setup of new employees, termination and redundancy calculations and payments, redundancies, allowances, deductions, superannuation setup in line with established segregation of duties
- Import of employee master data from SuccessFactors into PayGlobal
- Manual data entry into PayGlobal for supporting materials and information to generate pays
- Both run and support the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate payments, compliance with superannuation, taxation, and legislative requirements, and consistent service delivery.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, including Finance, as well as external partners, auditors, and industry contacts.
- Foster a collaborative, consultative culture aligned with organisational values within the People Services and broader PC&S teams.
- Proven end-to-end payroll processing experience in a medium-sized organisation of 3 years or greater.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and administration with a preference for PayGlobal as the main pay system.
- Sound understanding of Australian employment and payroll legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Logical and mathematical skills to deal with complex employment calculations
- Well-developed administrative, organisational, and analytical skills.
- Works well independently and in a collaborative team environment
- High School Certificate required
- Completed accreditation in payroll (desirable)
