About The Team & The Position
AEMO has chosen to use agile methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban and Lean methodologies and employs practical scaling of these systems as appropriate within each organisational or project team.
This role requires the incumbent to be a trainer and agile enforcer, the objective is to raise awareness and understanding of agile delivery models, encourage adoption with advice on best practice, uplift and enhance AEMOs ability to deliver, as well as mentor and coach the team on the agile mindset.
This position is crucial in ensuring that the delivery team has established ways of working and is delivering collaboratively while living the Agile and AEMO values and principles. The Scrum Master role is to ensure that the team is adopting new ways of working across all phases of software build and delivery. It requires understanding of key software practices and the strategic implications to the business e.g. DevSecOps, Cross Functional Teams and Continuous Deliver
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure agile methodologies are being leveraged and applied in a best practice way through coaching and facilitation of the team’s agreed way of working and setup
- Lead delivery teams focused on creating high-value increments that meet team and business goals.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and promote transparency, inspection, and adaptation using metrics and reporting techniques (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, backlog refinement, and retrospectives).
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and rapid learning to deliver optimal solutions
- Coach and mentor people across AEMO to improve AEMO ways of working. Embed a strong team culture that aligns to AEMO values and enables a culture of learning, empowerment, rapid experimentation, adaptability, and collaboration
- Facilitate collaboration with stakeholders, the removal of impediments or barriers for the team, identifying and removing waste
- Align delivery teams and the business on outcome practices
- Collaborate with Product Owners and delivery teams to plan and maintain product backlogs and sizing
- Document and manage workstream risks, issues, and dependencies, removing roadblocks and escalating when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with governance and documentation requirements throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in agile delivery/Scrum Master or as an Agile Coach/Trainer
- Strong delivery experience in project/program environments. Knowledge and experience using different ways of working to achieve outcomes.
- An understanding of key software practices and the strategic implications to the business e.g. DevOps, Cross Functional Teams and Continuous Delivery.
- The ability to engage and facilitate events with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and personalities, ensuring awareness and adoption of new ways of working
- Strong experience in supporting teams and organisations moving from a traditional waterfall methodology to an agile environment
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science or technology-related field, or equivalent work or education-related experience
- SCRUM Master and/or other relevant Agile certifications
- Project management qualifications or certifications would be preferred .
