Freelance Data Scientist – 12-Month Contract - Belgium

We’re currently supporting a large Financial organisation in Belgium that’s looking to bring in an experienced freelance Data Scientist for a 12-month assignment.

This role sits within an established data environment and focuses on turning complex data into meaningful insights that support business decision-making. You’ll work closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders in a collaborative, agile setting.

What you’ll be doing

Analysing large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights

Building and validating predictive and statistical models

Collaborating with data engineers on data pipelines and feature engineering

Translating business needs into data-driven solutions

Communicating insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Continuously improving models and analytical approaches

What we’re looking for

Solid experience as a Data Scientist in a complex or enterprise environment

Strong skills in Python (and/or R) and SQL

Experience with machine learning and statistical modelling

Comfortable working with large datasets

Confident communicator who enjoys working with stakeholders

Experience working in agile teams

Nice to have

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Experience with MLOps or model deployment

Background in regulated or large-scale organisations

Location: Belgium (hybrid or on-site depending on project needs)
