We are seeking an experienced Freelance QA/QC Engineer (Civil & Groundworks) to support a specialist subcontractor on a major data centre construction project in Helsinki. The role will focus on quality control and assurance across earthworks, foundations, concrete, drainage, external works, and associated civil packages, ensuring all works are delivered in compliance with project specifications, ITPs, and relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage the subcontractor QA/QC processes in line with the main contractor’s Project Quality Plan
• Review, prepare, and manage ITPs, method statements, and inspection records for civil and groundwork activities
• Carry out site inspections, witness tests, and verify works prior to consultant/client inspections
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and approved methodologies
• Manage NCRs, snags, corrective and preventive actions, and close-out documentation
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and the main contractor QA/QC team
• Maintain accurate as-built records and quality files for handover
• Support concrete pours, reinforcement inspections, earthworks, compaction testing, and drainage installations
• Assist with final inspections and quality close-out

Requirements

• Degree or technical qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Proven experience as a QA/QC Engineer on civil and groundwork packages
• Previous data centre, industrial, or large commercial project experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, concrete, reinforcement, drainage, and external works
• Familiar with ITPs, check sheets, NCR management, and quality documentation
• Experience working subcontractor-side on live construction sites
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• English fluency required (Finnish is an advantage but not essential)
