Transpoco is a €4M ARR fleet SaaS business on a path to €10M and beyond. The platform is mature and stable, serving customers with reliable telematics solutions. As the company scales, the engineering organisation is transitioning from a small, founder-led team to a more structured operation,creating an opportunity to introduce outcome-focused practices, establish engineering leadership, and build the systems and standards that will support the next phase of growth.
We’re hiring an Engineering Lead who is both a top-tier product engineer and a hands-on people leader to:
- Raise the technical and delivery bar.
- Shift the team from “tickets and sprints” to outcomes and impact.
- Introduce modern SaaS engineering practices.
- Free up the CTO to focus on strategy, architecture, and M&A.
This is hands-on + leadership hybrid role: roughly 60% building, 40% leading, evolving as the team scales.
- Technical Leadership & Hands-on Building: Design and ship complex features end-to-end. You’ll lead by example in code, enforce clean patterns, and ensure tests add real leverage.
- People Leadership & Team Growth: Be the day-to-day leader for the team. You'll run 1:1s, hire and onboard new talent, and raise performance standards by celebrating impact over activity.
- System Architecture & Platform Health: Pragmatically evolve our legacy system into a modern platform. You'll manage technical debt, improve reliability, and embed security practices into everyday development.
- Delivery Excellence & Process: Shift the team from "tickets and sprints" to outcomes. You'll move us to an engineering-owned quality model and improve developer experience to reduce friction.
- Product Strategy & AI: Partner with Product and our leadership team to solve real user problems. You’ll also define and execute a practical AI strategy to increase engineering velocity where relevant.
Must-have
- 5–8+ years in software engineering, including time as a Senior in a modern B2B SaaS environment.
- Proven track record as a technical lead or engineering manager in a small-to-mid sized team (6–12 engineers), ideally in a remote or distributed setup.
- Strong product mindset: you think in terms of customer outcomes and business value.
- Excellent systems thinking: you can see how architecture, processes, incentives, and culture interact.
- Hands-on capability with modern web backend/frontend stacks, CI/CD, testing, and cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS).
- Strong communication in English.
- Experience modernising a legacy but business-critical system.
- Exposure to or interest in telematics, IoT, or data-heavy SaaS.
- Experience introducing outcome-based planning frameworks.
- Hands-on experience using AI tooling in real production workflows.
- Founder-like ownership: You’re the first dedicated engineering lead layer under the CTO.
- Shape an A-player team: You’ll hire, coach, and level up the team.
- Clear path to VP of Engineering: Explicit track to own the whole function as we grow.
- Rebuild a mission-critical product: Re-architect a system that tracks thousands of vehicles and millions of live data points.
