About Vimotek
Vimotek is a space company—recently named on Ny Teknik’s 33 List as one of Sweden’s most promising technology startups—working to de-risk spacecraft proximity operations, accelerate time-to-orbit and enable scaling of in-orbit services. The company equips space companies’ engineering and operations teams with leading dual-use solutions for in-space automation within two closely associated and complementary domains: 1) Digital Twins of Spacecraft for Missions Simulation and Validation and 2) AI-Driven Sensing, Perception and Control.
What you’ll build?
You will play a key role in developing Vimotek’s NavCam perception units - a sensor and compute platform that fuses cameras, LiDAR, and AI-driven processing to deliver actionable navigation data for spacecraft. This is not a paper-architecture role. You will be: designing real hardware, iterating on prototypes and seeing your designs move toward flight-ready systems for our customers.
Your role
As Flight Electronics Designer, you will contribute to system architecture and own sub-system level development working closely with the team of system, software, perception and AIT engineers to bring them to life. You will:
- Work on the electronics architecture for sensing and computing space systems
- Calculate and simulate your designs
- Make trade-off analysis to find optimal solutions
- Design, breadboard, prototype, and test high-reliability flight electronics
- Collaborate with suppliers on component selection
- Help shape engineering practices and mentor junior engineers as the team grows
Skills and Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Solid experience designing electronics for robust or safety-critical systems (space, automotive, aerospace, robotics, or defence)
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in electronics system architecture, simulation and design
- Experience on PCB simulation and design, including HDI multilayer and rigid-flex
- Comfort working end-to-end: concept → schematic → layout → bring-up → test → dispatch to manufacturing
- At least basic programming and scripting skills in C, C++, Python and MATLAB for prototyping, embedded development, and data analysis.
- Experience with MCU, MPU and FPGA-based systems development
- Hands-on design experience with a broad range of components and subsystems, high-speed digital and analog signal chains, communication interfaces (e.g., LVDS, CAN, Ethernet)
- You enjoy ownership and autonomy
- You thrive in a startup environment with fast iteration and evolving requirements
- You balance technical depth with pragmatism - you know when “good enough” is right
- You collaborate well across disciplines and enjoy building things that actually ship (and fly)
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with radiation environment, reliability standards, derating practices, and qualification processes.
- Extensive simulation and testing experience.
The company’s primary language is English, proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
Location: Either in Luleå or Stockholm, flexible hybrid (mix of on-site and remote) working mode
