As a full-time LLM & AI Engineer (internal title: Innovative Technologies

Engineer), you will be at the forefront of turning emerging technologies into real-world software features. Your work will focus on exploring, prototyping, and validating new ideas with a strong emphasis on Large Language Models(LLMs) to actively shape the future of our products.

This position bridges research and practical development, requiring both creative exploration

and hands-on engineering. You will join our newly established Innovative Technologies Team, reporting to the Innovative Technologies Lead. As part of this growing team, you will collaborate closely with product and engineering colleagues while operating within an independent, innovation-focused unit.

You will work in the fascinating and complex domain of offshore drilling, with exposure to the entire value chain – from onshore planning to execution aboard offshore drilling installations and ships. Navigating this specialized industry offers engaging challenges, continuous learning, and the opportunity to solve intricate real-world problems. The prototypes you build can directly enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of offshore operations. To broaden your horizons (and if attractive), we offer opportunities to travel to rigs as well as customer and partner offices in the Nordics and globally.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Rapidly proto type innovative technology concepts, with a primary focus on LLM-based solutions.
• Develop functional proofs-of-concept using Python and modern web frameworks (e.g., Fast API or similar).
• Experiment with advanced LLM applications, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent orchestration.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to transition successful prototypes into production-ready features.
• Continuously refine prototypes based on user feedback, product insights, and technical evaluations.
• Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, collaboratively selected with your team.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and internal demos around new prototypes and findings.

Required qualifications, skills and experience

• Experience level: Minimum 3 years of professional experience
• Practical experience in software engineering with Python, demonstrated through professional roles (and optionally substantial private projects).
• Strong prototyping skills using Python, ideally with Fast API or similar modern web frameworks.
• Hands-on experience working with Large Language Models(e.g., Open AI, Anthropic, Meta Llama), including at least one real application, internal tool, or serious side project.
• Background in natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, or algorithm design.
• Comfort with rapid experimentation and iterative development, from idea to working prototype.
• A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for innovation, learning, and sharing knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills in English(written and verbal),both technical and non- technical.

Preferred qualifications, skills and experience:

• Hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Have basic front-end development skills (e.g., HTML5, TypeScript, CSS, Vue.js, React, or Angular).
• Are familiar with additional programming languages, especially C# .NET framework.
• Have exposure to Azure Cloud services and serverless architecture.
• Have previous experience in R&D, innovation labs, or experimental environments.
• Have contributed to open-source projects or have relevant publications.

Working Location

This role will be based in our Stavanger office, working from facilities provided by Horizon56.
