They are looking to hire an experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join on a permanent basis to sit within the Mobile Engineering team.

About the role

• Act as a technical authority, building elegant, scalable solutions from complex requirements.
• Partner with architects to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, secure, and aligned with best practices.
• Define strategies for managing technical debt and maintaining system resilience.
• Promote continuous improvement, fostering team effectiveness and a positive culture.
• Mentor and coach engineers, driving collaboration and professional growth.

Experience Required

• Backend Development: 4+ years on large commercial projects (Node.js or JVM-based frameworks).
• JavaScript/TypeScript: 5+ years with strong proficiency; React expertise.
• Microservices: REST-based development using JVM Spring or Node.js.
• Architecture & Best Practices: Strong understanding of clean code, layered backend architectures (e.g., three-tier, hexagonal), and mobile app architecture patterns.
• Testing & CI/CD: Excellent knowledge of TDD, testing pyramid, Git/Git Flow, and automated build/deployment tools.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and GitHub Actions.
• Additional Skills: React Native (2+ years), GraphQL, state management libraries (Redux, Zustand), and web/mobile security best practices.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and drive alignment across teams.
• Problem-Solving: Strong debugging, observability, and root cause analysis skills.
• Nice to Have: NestJS, Objective-C/Swift, Java/Kotlin experience.
