- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with networking protocols and troubleshooting.
- Experience in optical transmissions systems (e.g., DWDM) and Local Area Network/Wireless Protocols and TCP/Internet Protocol.
- Experience supporting and directing field operation technicians, engineers, contractors and vendors in a Telecom working environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing automation solutions for network deployment.
- Experience with process improvement or process engineering methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience in telecommunications, with a working knowledge of network infrastructure, optical transport systems, layer 2/3 (switches, routers), third-party leased network assets and installation vendors.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Google's network, with a focus on workflow automation and efficiency.
- Drive adaptable approaches, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve network deployment cycle time and operational costs through process improvements.
- Own an area of responsibility, addressing issues, anticipating needs and escalating as necessary, while identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency and prevent reoccurring failure modes.
- Maintain accurate network data to drive operational excellence.
