AI Engineer (Applied AI)

We are strengthening our Engineering team in Vilnius and are looking for an AI Engineer to support the implementation of AI driven solutions across the company. This position is ideal for a software engineer who wants to work with practical, production grade AI systems and take part in deploying modern tools that support internal teams, products, and operational processes.

The role combines integration of external AI platforms with the development of custom components when required. You will be involved in building secure AI workflows, configuring chatbots, creating internal AI services, and ensuring that all solutions meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Main responsibilities:

• Integrate external AI platforms, chatbots, and agent frameworks into PAYSTRAX systems.
• Develop internal AI components when vendor tools are not mature enough, including secure RAG modules, guardrails, and workflow logic.
• Implement and maintain MCP based services that allow AI agents to interact with internal systems.
• Design and run evaluation workflows to validate correctness, safety, and regression stability of AI capabilities.
• Work closely with subject matter experts to translate business requirements into evaluation criteria and prompt structures.
• Configure prompts, retrieval logic, and tool use for AI agents.
• Collaborate with IT, Product, Operations, and Security teams to ensure safe and reliable deployment of AI capabilities.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in software engineering with a solid understanding of backend development and integration patterns.
• Practical experience with modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and shift left and shift right principles.
• Ability to design, secure, and maintain production ready services.
• Experience working with AI platforms, LLM APIs, or related tools, or ability to learn these quickly.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, especially in contexts requiring accuracy and safety.
• Ability to learn new frameworks, patterns, and technologies as required.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with retrieval systems, vector storage, or structured tool calling.
• Experience designing evaluation pipelines for AI systems.
• Experience with containers, infrastructure tooling, or cloud-based environments.
• Understanding of data governance and auditability in regulated industries.
