Technical Operations Engineer

PAYSTRAX is a licensed Payment Institution as well as a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard.
PAYSTRAX is expanding its Engineering team and is looking for a Technical Operations Engineer focused on internal automation and practical use of AI supported tooling. This role is suited for an engineer who enjoys improving operational workflows, integrating systems, and helping colleagues adopt modern AI capabilities in their daily work.
A key part of this position is enabling internal teams to use AI tools effectively. You will identify where AI assisted features can streamline processes, configure and support these tools, and provide guidance and training to ensure safe and reliable usage across the company.
Main responsibilities:
- Integrate and configure external AI assisted platforms, chatbots, and workflow tools for internal operations.
- Build small internal services or scripts when existing tools do not fully meet the need.
- Develop and maintain simple AI driven workflows such as internal chatbots, routing logic, or knowledge retrieval.
- Provide training, documentation, and support to help teams use AI tools effectively and safely.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into automated workflows.
- Configure prompts, rules, and logic for AI supported tools in collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Participate in basic evaluation and testing of automated workflows to ensure correctness and reliability.
- Promote best practices for responsible AI usage within the company.
Requirements:
- Experience in software engineering or operations engineering with understanding of backend concepts and integration patterns.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and support colleagues in learning new tools.
- Familiarity with scripting, APIs, and system integration.
- Practical understanding of modern SDLC practices such as version control, CI, and testing.
- Interest in AI assisted tooling and willingness to learn new platforms quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to have:
- Experience with chatbot configuration, agent frameworks, or workflow automation platforms.
- Exposure to retrieval systems or vector search concepts.
- Experience working with containers or cloud-based environments.
- Understanding of data handling principles in structured or regulated contexts.
