Business analyst Swift - Luxembourg

Our client is looking for a Business Analyst specialised in Swift messages to join its team.

The Role:

Business & Functional Analysis

• Analyze business needs related to payments, SWIFT messaging and core banking functionalities.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications for IT teams.
• Support solution design and ensure alignment with industry standards and internal architecture.

SWIFT & Payments Expertise

• Act as the subject-matter expert on SWIFT MT/MX messages, routing and payment flows.
• Contribute to initiatives related to payment processing, clearing and settlement.
• Ensure compliance with SWIFT standards, market practices and evolving regulatory requirements.

IT & Systems Support

• Support enhancements and maintenance of the core banking system and payment applications.
• Validate integration between internal systems and external payment networks.
• Collaborate with developers, architects and infrastructure teams on end‑to‑end implementations.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Create, document and execute test cases for new features, system upgrades, and bug fixes.
• Participate in functional testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Identify system gaps, defects and improvement opportunities through structured test cycles.

Project Delivery

• Contribute to payment-related IT projects, from scoping to implementation.
• Assist in preparing project documentation, process flows and technical mapping.
• Support stakeholders with impact assessments and change implementation.

The Profile:

• Strong understanding of SWIFT messages (MT/MX), SWIFT formatting and payment lifecycle end‑to‑end.
• Solid experience with cash payments, SEPA, international transfers, or correspondent banking.
• Good knowledge of core banking systems and their integration points with payment engines.
• Familiarity with testing activities including test case creation, execution, and defect reporting.
• Experience with SQL, data analysis, or API-based integrations is a plus.
• Comfortable navigating technical documentation and system-level specifications.
• Detail-oriented, structured and capable of working independently as well as in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
