Freelance Project Manager – Battery Energy Storage
We’re looking for an experienced freelance Project Manager to lead the delivery of a grid-scale BESS project from ready-to-build through construction and handover. The project is in Poland with a planned grid connection in 2028.

Work type: Freelance
Contract length: At least 12 months (likely extension)
Location: Poland
Site visit: Remote
Rate: 80-120€/hour DOE
Responsibilities
- Create and manage detailed project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.
- Integrate and enforce HSE and quality standards throughout all phases.
- Lead site teams and coordinate daily operations.
- Work with engineering teams on design reviews and quality inspections.
- Manage EPC contractors, suppliers, and owner-provided equipment.
- Monitor budgets, cash flow, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Handle permitting and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain technical standards and rigorous quality control.
- Identify and mitigate risks using PMO methodologies.
- Track timelines, maintain documentation, and report to leadership.
- Support financing processes, including liaising with advisors and managing drawdowns.
- Coordinate grid operator and contractor activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Strong HSE and CDM knowledge.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Bonus: BESS experience, project management accreditation.
- English is essential.
