Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis & Performance Management:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis of product lines, including profitability, cost management, and revenue tracking.
- Map product costs to revenues and provide insights on margins, ROI, and profitability.
- Analyze product performance data and identify trends to optimize pricing and product positioning.
Market Research & Demand Assessment:
- Research and analyze market conditions and customer preferences to assess product demand.
- Collaborate with product and sales teams to evaluate market fit and demand for current and future products.
Business Case Review & Economic Improvement:
- Review business cases for new product launches, enhancements, or discontinuations, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Develop strategies to improve the economic performance of products, including cost reduction, margin optimization, and pricing strategies.
Guidance & Recommendations:
- Provide data-driven recommendations and guidance to senior leadership on product profitability and investment decisions.
- Work closely with product development and finance teams to support decision-making processes and strategic planning.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
- Prepare financial reports and performance dashboards for management, highlighting key metrics and variances.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in product economics and contribute to process enhancements.
Qualification, Experience and Job Specific skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or CFA certification is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, finance, or related roles, preferably in a technology-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Exposure to technology products and an understanding of software development life cycles or cloud services is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or BI tools).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking and a results-oriented approach to managing product performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, including product, finance, marketing, and sales.
- Demonstrated experience in working with cloud or technology products.
- Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of industry trends and the ability to apply them to product economics.
