The Compute Fleet Infrastructure Team builds and operates the foundational layer of the Azure platform that all higher‑level services depend on. This team is responsible for the software systems that provision, manage, scale, and operate Azure’s global compute fleet, forming the backbone that enables reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency at cloud scale.
In this role, you will work with experienced engineers to design, build, and operate distributed systems and automation frameworks that support large‑scale compute infrastructure. You will contribute production‑quality code, improve operational reliability, and gain deep exposure to how Azure operates at planetary scale.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain distributed services and automation tools that support the foundational compute fleet layer of the Azure platform..
- Contribute high‑quality, maintainable code to production systems using established software engineering practices.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, operations, and platform partner teams to understand requirements and deliver features on the critical path of the cloud platform.
- Participate in design discussions and reviews, contributing to design documents with guidance from senior engineers.
- Help break down large engineering problems into well‑scoped work items and provide effort estimates.
- Improve reliability, availability, performance, and observability of foundational infrastructure services through code and automation.
- Follow and promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and operational readiness.
- Continuously learn and apply knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and large‑scale platform operations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Understanding of fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking, and operating systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms is preferred
