We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, with at least 7 years of professional experience, who will join a client in Luxembourg (100% onsite).


Roles and Responsibilties:

The objective of this assignment is to provide the organization with the necessary IT and data engineering support for a valuation-focused business unit, contributing to the development, enhancement, and integration of internal valuation solutions.


  • Contribute to the later phases of development of an in-house application, focusing on the digitalization and enhancement of an Excel-based valuation model for venture debt and direct equity valuations
  • Model and implement calculation logic and valuation features using the Python programming language
  • Prototype relevant model interfaces, including both front-end and back-end data models, using a low-code or rapid application development platform to support the IT development team in implementing these components into the target application using modern web technologies
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines
  • Use SQL for data validation, reconciliation, and backend integrations
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions such as Python models and application prototypes
  • Support and follow up with the IT development team during integration phases by explaining Python models and application prototypes
  • Produce and maintain thorough documentation of processes, analysis results, and technical decisions for auditability and future reference, including model documentation to support model risk management and validation processes where applicable
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure alignment of priorities across the project backlog and provide timely updates to stakeholders
  • Maintain regular communication with other impacted teams (e.g., Integration, Data Warehouse) to identify and manage cross-functional dependencies
  • Design test cases in collaboration with QA engineers to ensure coverage of functional and non-functional requirements
  • Support testing activities, including end-to-end testing of complex workflows such as data imports and reconciliation processes


Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a closely related role
  • Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and best practices for reporting and analytics
  • Experience in modelling reporting universes and creating reports using enterprise reporting tools
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, preferably in Oracle or equivalent relational database environments
  • Familiarity with data modelling best practices and data architecture principles
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Experience working with banking or financial services applications
  • Experience with lending, valuation, or middle-office systems (e.g., guarantees, cash and liquidity management, rate setting, advisory services, capital markets, provisioning, valuation, or mandate management)
  • At least one year of hands-on experience in projects requiring Python development
  • Prior experience working in international or multi-country organizational environments
