Finance / Venture Capital Expert (B2B Contractor) – Luxembourg | 18 Months

Role Overview:
- This role combines venture capital and venture debt portfolio work with reporting and data/analytics delivery.
- You will work with internal stakeholders and technical teams to build a scalable reporting and analytics setup and hand it over to internal teams for ongoing use and development.
Responsibilities:
Phase 1 – Needs Analysis:
· Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify business use cases for:
- Internal reporting and decision-making
- Sharing insights with other EU agencies
- Potential ecosystem sharing (start-ups, national counterparties, innovation actors)
- Define desired portfolio reporting, KPIs, and insight requirements.
- Map current and future data sources and provide architecture recommendations.
- Evaluate the capabilities of VestBerry (including advanced reporting functionality) and fit for purpose.
Phase 2 – Delivery of Minimum Core Functionality:
- Support migration to the VestBerry platform (or equivalent), including processes and procedures for data management and maintenance.
- Establish a dedicated data lake, initially populated with Venture Debt portfolio information, with scalable onboarding of additional data sources.
- Implement an analytics visualisation layer (e.g., Power BI, Fabric, SAP BusinessObjects).
- Collaborate with internal/external Data Engineers to design and build semantic data models for analytics and reporting.
- Lead structured handover of models, reporting assets, and documentation to internal data engineers / data scientists for ongoing maintenance and development.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Law, Banking, Investment Banking, Business Administration, IT, or related discipline.
· 5+ years relevant professional experience in:
- Finance
- VC/PE
- Investment banking
- CFO role in a start-up
- Relevant consultancy
- Proven experience on at least one assignment involving investments in innovative early-stage companies/SMEs (including scale-ups) across equity, quasi-equity, and/or debt.
- Proven experience on at least one assignment demonstrating:
- Market consultations involving investors, early-stage companies/SMEs, and/or ecosystem actors
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Proven experience on at least one assignment related to due diligence of early-stage companies/SMEs (including scale-ups) across asset classes.
Assets / Nice to Have:
- CFA qualification (asset).
- Experience with data migration, VC portfolio systems, and monitoring / portfolio management tools (asset).
- Experience with European equity / blended financing structures (asset).
