Salt is currently hiring a Project Manager for a client of ours in Amsterdam.
Project Requires 1/2 days a week in Amsterdam, and you would need a KVK/ZZP.
The Project Manager is responsible for driving effective project governance and delivery across the department. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and execute initiatives that support business priorities and strategic objectives.
Working proactively with departmental teams, business units, and centralized functions, the Project Manager helps define project scope, goals, KPIs, roadmaps, and key deliverables. They ensure projects are managed consistently, dependencies and risks are actively mitigated, and progress is tracked against agreed milestones.
The Project Manager plays a critical role in aligning team roadmaps with business strategy, data-driven priorities, and operational needs. In some cases, the role also involves managing external vendors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply structured project management methodologies to lead initiatives within large, multi-year programs.
- Define clear project scopes, objectives, success metrics, and stakeholder responsibilities, securing alignment and buy-in prior to project initiation.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, identifying dependencies, resource requirements, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, adapting quickly to changing priorities, unforeseen challenges, or regulatory requirements.
- Manage multiple, interdependent project workstreams simultaneously, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivery timelines.
- Act as the primary point of contact across cross-functional teams including technology, finance, product, and other business stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences through status reporting, dashboards, and executive updates to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Navigate complex, matrixed stakeholder environments with confidence and diplomacy to drive consensus and successful outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to translate medium-complexity financial and operational requirements into clear technical solutions and implementation plans.
- Ensure team roadmaps and plans remain focused on agreed business priorities, dependencies, and strategic outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3–5 years’ proven experience managing and delivering medium to large, multi-disciplinary projects, ideally in global or multi-regional environments.
- Demonstrated experience working within technology-driven or ERP-based organisations.
- Practical knowledge of at least two project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Comfortable working in technical project environments.
- Experience within a fintech or payments context (e.g. payments processing, banking operations) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at both executive and delivery-team levels.
- Project management certification strongly preferred (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Certified Practitioner, or equivalent).
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to operate effectively in ambiguous or high-pressure environments.
- Able to work with limited supervision and use both quantitative and qualitative data to drive informed decision-making.
