Are you ready to be part of the growing team shaping Europe’s sovereign AI future? Then join our team as Network & Datacenter Infrastructure Engineer!

We are looking for a highly skilled Network & Datacenter Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in network design, configuration, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), and security. This role focuses heavily on the network side, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability, while also supporting physical infrastructure in our Swiss datacenters.

This is a full-remote position, with the exception of mandatory in-office days once per month and occasional on-site interventions in our datacenters across Switzerland (e.g., Zurich, Basel). During these visits, you will assist with critical hardware installations, upgrades, or emergency operations.

Who We Are:

Phoenix Technologies is a Swiss-based AI and cloud service provider, delivering sovereign, high-performance computing solutions designed for enterprises requiring scalability, security, and data sovereignty. Our fully integrated, turnkey AI and cloud environments ensure compliance with strict data governance regulations, making us the only sovereign provider of high-end AI infrastructure in Switzerland.

Your Mission:

You will support in owning and evolving our network and datacenter infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, highly available, and scalable to support mission-critical AI, GPU, and high-performance computing workloads. Your mission is to design, operate, and continuously improve robust network architectures, applying automation, infrastructure-as-code, and modern networking best practices wherever possible.

Through deep hands-on expertise and strong ownership, you will ensure reliable connectivity, low-latency performance, and resilient network operations across our Swiss datacenters. By working closely with infrastructure, platform, and security teams, you will help push our networking and datacenter capabilities to the next level and enable engineering teams to build and operate with confidence.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Infrastructure: Configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices (e.g., Cisco, Fortigate, Nvidia Mellanox). Ensure robust security and network performance.
  • Routing & Protocols: Manage and optimize routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), implement static and dynamic routing, and ensure efficient data flow and redundancy across networks.
  • Network Security: Implement network security best practices, configure firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to safeguard the network.
  • Troubleshooting & Performance: Diagnose and resolve network issues (hardware and protocol-related) to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.
  • Datacenter Support: Provide on-site support for datacenter infrastructure, including router/switch installations, server racks, storage area networks (SAN), and Linux One systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and security teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with organizational systems and services.
  • On-Site Support: Occasionally travel to Swiss datacenter locations to support network infrastructure installations, upgrades, and emergency maintenance

Your Profile:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a Network SysAdmin or Infrastructure Engineering role with strong hands-on knowledge of networking, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Advanced Networking Expertise: Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, etc.), network security, and enterprise-level networking hardware (e.g., Cisco, Fortigate, Mellanox).
  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications strongly preferred.
  • On-Site Mobility: Holder of a valid driving license, own car, and availability to travel between Swiss datacenter locations.
  • Swiss Residency: Must be resident in Switzerland and authorized to work without restriction.

Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):

  • Datacenter Knowledge: Familiarity with the installation and maintenance of server racks, SAN systems, storage solutions, and physical datacenter operations.
  • Linux SysAdmin Skills: Basic Linux system administration skills, including installation, patching, and troubleshooting of Linux servers.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar for network infrastructure provisioning and automation.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Terraform, Ansible) for automating network-related tasks and configurations.
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Knowledge of network virtualization and hybrid cloud architectures, especially in RedHat Virtualization or similar platforms.
  • Monitoring & Performance: Experience with network performance and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Zabbix) for capacity planning and continuous network optimization.
  • DevOps Awareness: Familiarity with CI/CD practices and working alongside development teams to integrate networking solutions into automated deployment pipelines.

What You'll Get in Return
