As a key member of our mobile engineering team, you will help evaluate new projects and features for technical feasibility, implement high‑quality code, and contribute to critical stability and performance improvements. We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, proactive, and grounded in strong Android engineering fundamentals - someone who has a desire to grow into a leader within our mobile development team.

As an Android engineer, you will…
- Build, iterate, and enhance the Starbucks Android application
- Partner closely with the design team and other cross-functional members of the team to co-create intuitive easy to use app experiences for our users and the business
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of architecture and code reviews
- Optimize existing code for maintainability and testability
- Improve app quality with the development of unit and automated UI tests
- Support the effort to mature and evolve team testing practice and philosophy
- 1-4 years of professional industry experience with software development
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Extensive software engineering experience with the Android platform
- 2+ years of professional experience developing consumer-facing Android mobile applications
- 2+ years of software development experience
- Exposure to integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Core Location Services, Push Notifications
- Attention to detail, particularly around software engineering fundamentals, testing methodologies, and quality.
- Experience with one or more common modern mobile architectural patterns (MVP, MVVM, VIPER)
- Experience writing unit tests and Espresso tests
- Experience developing in Kotlin
- Experience with Jetpack Compose preferred
- Experience with git
- If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
