The Strategy and Planning Head of Oman Air will report directly to the Strategy, Network and Partnerships VP and will be responsible for developing and executing the airline’s overarching commercial strategy. This will require the Strategy
and Planning Function Head to play a critical role in shaping Oman Air’s strategic direction, commercial business plans and growth initiatives. Furthermore, this Head will also manage the implementation of the strategy and all stakeholder
requirements / expectations as per the transformation roadmap. The Strategy and Planning Function Head will also oversee the overall coordination and steering of the commercial strategy including tracking of the initiatives being implemented across the different departments, communication, risk identification, periodic reporting to the senior management and overseeing external vendors as applicable.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
Area of responsibility
Strategy:
1.Lead and support the development of the refreshed short-term commercial blueprint (including PAX demand forecasting,
segmentation journey and target destinations) to enable the Oman Air to achieve financial sustainability, in line with the airline’s new direction, while reinforcing the airline’s positioning in the market
2.Conduct a detailed benchmarking assessment to understand the industry trends and competitive landscape and identify
potential disruptions and opportunities applicable to Oman Air
3.Cascade the commercial strategy into key initiatives and programs to be implemented by respective departments including developing detailed business plans and initiative charters
4.Lead the implementation key initiatives/programs that fall within the department’s realm
5.Develop a detailed implementation plan and transformation roadmap to execute the commercial strategy including risks, timelines, budget, resources required and more
6.Conduct workshops and liaise between all key departments to ensure strategic alignment (e.g., revenue management, PAX Experience and Loyalty, Marketing, Operations, etc.)
Planning:
1.Oversee the execution and implementation of the commercial strategy across all departments while ensuring
comprehensive alignment and proper cascading of the strategy
2.Manage key departments and internal stakeholders owning and responsible to implement initiatives/programs as defined by the commercial strategy
3.Monitor and track the progress of the implementation of the initiatives/programs implementation and conduct quality assurance including overseeing and mitigating the potential risks and monitoring the budget
4.Provide ongoing management, control, and planning of the initiatives and programs as defined by the strategy and ensure alignment to policies, processes and standards
5.Lead the Strategy and Planning department, facilitating an open exchange of ideas and fostering an atmosphere of open communication, collaboration and teamwork
6.Manage all internal and external stakeholders and prepare periodic updates, business plans and other decision models as required by the Strategy, Network and Partnerships VP
7.Any other tasks assigned by management.
Education & Experience:
➢Bachelor’s degree in scientific or business discipline (mandatory) with post graduate studies in Business Management / Statistics/ Economics (preferable) with 10-12+ years of experience in aviation industry with minimum of 4 years’ commercial experience in a manager role
Ideal Experience:
➢ Prior experience as a manager/senior manager of an airline’s commercial department
and/or consultancy experience for an airline
➢ Experience in project and change management and leading teams to deliver positive project outcomes is essential
➢ Experience working with high-performing teams with complex program execution
➢ Expertise in conducting large transformations with proven track record of driving
commercial success ➢ Ability to work with key stakeholders and external partners through teamwork in a non-hierarchical relationship framework
➢ In-depth knowledge of commercial strategies and demonstrated experience and familiarity in overseeing and executing strategies, team building, project management
and communication
➢ Familiarity with domestic and regional aviation market and context, in addition to global experience (experience working in the Middle East region is a plus)

➢ Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (preferred)
