We’re partnering with a company that relies on cutting-edge networking technologies to keep critical operations running smoothly across global sites. Working with next-generation firewalls, cloud-managed wireless networks, and SD-WAN architectures, the team delivers secure, resilient, and high-availability networks that support data, voice, and video traffic — ensuring seamless connectivity across hybrid and cloud environments.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Network Engineer to join their IT team. This role offers the opportunity to work on modern, enterprise-grade network infrastructures, supporting next-generation firewalls, cloud-managed wireless networks, SD-WAN architectures, and hybrid environments. You’ll play a key part in ensuring network performance, security, and availability while contributing to large-scale projects and mentoring junior team members.
What you will do:
- Manage and support FortiGate next-generation firewalls using centralized tools like FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
- Configure and maintain Ruckus Wireless infrastructure, including cloud-managed Wi-Fi platforms.
- Implement and support SD-WAN architectures (Fortinet preferred, or equivalents such as Cisco Meraki, Versa, or Palo Alto Prisma)
- Maintain network security, performance, and availability across hybrid environments including cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and remote sites.
- Troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve complex network issues, utilizing tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, or PRTG.
- Design and deploy redundant, fault-tolerant enterprise networks for data, voice, and video.
- Document network architecture, processes, and changes using Visio and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations and manage incident escalation using Jira or other ITSM platforms.
- Mentor junior Network Administrators and support cross-functional IT teams.
- Lead or contribute to network projects from planning through deployment and present solutions to stakeholders.
- Assist with compliance and security audit requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2)
Skills & Experience required:
- 5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure.
- 3+ years’ experience specifically as a Network Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with NGFW devices such as FortiGate.
- Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IPsec VPN, DMVPN, NAT, QoS, VoIP, and wireless protocols.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.)
- Familiarity with switching, routing, firewalls, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Proficient in documentation and maintaining network diagrams.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders effectively.
Desirable
- Professional network certifications (optional but advantageous)
- Microsoft Windows Server experience.
- Backup and restore technologies knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and use standard office equipment.
- Ability to operate audio-visual and computer equipment.
- Travel may be required.
