We are looking for a Snr Farm Hand to join our high performing team at the Tick Fever Centre to:
- Assist with Biosecurity Practices to ensure the disease-free status of the Specific Pathogen Free herd is maintained
- Provide practical skills and knowledge in animal husbandry
- Assist with delivery of operational plans for land preparation for pasture improvement
Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats.
Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.
Role
As our Snr Farm Hand, you will provide practical animal related activities with the farm and quarantine sheds, that preserve and protect Queensland's biosecurity You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
- Accurately performing routine tasks in accordance with Animal Ethics and Workplace Health & Safety requirements
- Ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
- Are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
- Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination to Q fever will be required prior to starting with Biosecurity Queensland.
- A current “C” class drivers' licence.
- Previous experience working with large animals
