About the Role:
The Product Manager - Software and Services, is responsible for driving the profitability and increase market share of the assigned portfolio by managing all phases of the product life cycle. A key part of this role will be transforming traditional on premises software solutions into reliable, feature rich software as a service (SAAS) products, suitable for sale to distributors, system integrators, and end users.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge of the assigned product portfolio to an expert level.
- Develop and maintain personal contact with internal teams, distributors, system integrators and end users to qualify product feature requests, understand any potential short falls or technical failings, and prioritise product development plans, with the fundamental goal of providing a 'customer first' approach.
- Work closely with engineering teams ensure products and features are developed to meet the expectation of customers.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the broader security and SAAS markets.
- Maintain commercial ownership of the assigned portfolio.
- Provide pre-sales technical support and solutions to the internal sales team or external stakeholders when required.
- Develop and present technical presentations to the internal sales team or external stakeholders when required.
- Engage with internal & external sales teams and customers to understand buyer motivation, and develop solutions accordingly.
- Assist in preparing tender submissions in conjunction with internal & external sales teams.
- Liaise with or present to international teams as and when required.
- Review product pricing pro-actively and on demand to ensure balance between profitability and sales impact.
- Develop internal and external marketing plans and material for the product portfolio.
- Work with internal teams to manage inventory levels and product forecasting.
- Work with internal teams to manage factory production and assist in issue resolution.
- Provide product information, training and advice to internal technical support team, document writer, and trainer as and when required.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary education qualification/s in Product Management, Project Management or Business or significant previous experience (3+ years in a similar role) 5+ years experience if no tertiary qualification.
Required Skills:
- Experience in managing complete product lifecycle.
- Experience presenting to small and large groups of people.
- Experience in creating marketing plans and content.
- Experience working effectively in hybrid work environment.
- Ownership of sales targets (revenue and profit).
- Experience qualifying sales leads.
- Experience in UX design or outcomes.
- Experience in engineering management tools (eg. Jira, Confluence).
- Good understanding, qualification desirable, of AWS and general cloud computing architecture.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks autonomously.
- Good understanding of the operational drivers and control processes of a business.
