Job Description:

FTS is a research-oriented company and invests in making modern productivity solutions that employ components of machine learning and AI (not natural language processing). 


FTS is an SME with 10 employees / full-time consultants equivalent to employees, 6 long-term part-time software developers, and is looking to hire 2-3 further roles in the next 12 months.


FTS is looking for a seasoned and productive network engineer that considers oneself to be both highly competent and efficient, and who expects to be compensated accordingly. An ideal candidate would be organized with diligent and systemic record keeping and be capable, after a course of onboarding and product familiarization, of independently deploying and maintaining enterprise software for government authorities on Microsoft Tech stack environments. 


The candidate would lead supervised and un-supervised deliveries (remotely), give system maintenance training to clients, and oversee the infrastructure and maintenance of the hosting-as-a-service business line. The candidate should be knowledgeable of VM’s, multi-tier architecture, high availability, cloud and on-premise architectures, backup technology, familiar with a variety of WAF’s and SIEM systems, ISO 27001, security and penetration testing, secure remote access technology, vulnerability detection and resolution, encryption, best industry practices in security, and demonstrated awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats.


This person should be comfortable working in a small, agile, and experienced team, able to work with external contributors and be comfortable with some aspects of cross-discipline activities (e.g. giving training, generating product documentation).


As FTS was created and grew during the COVID times, we operate a fully virtual office. The individual must be capable of having a home office and be able to work professionally from home. The candidate MUST RESIDE IN AUSTRIA for employee registration purposes, tax payments, etc. Please do not apply if intending to remain outside Austria.


Example activities for which the candidate would be involved:

·       Support client initial deployments or updates (20+ per year)

·       Provide guidance, assist, or lead the setup of Production, UAT, and DR environments

·       Manage the technology used for the hosting-as-a-service business line

·       Assist in resolving technical issues or service tickets

·       Integrate systems with SMS Gateways for notifications

·       Training partner companies to support FTS products

·       Implementation of Offline GPT solutions

·       Develop security policies and procedures


This position is ideally suited for individuals to interested to work remotely and independently but with the necessary peer reviews, work on a well-established system with competent colleagues, and in a business which is expected to grow in size (number of users and employees).

FTS works as a small team offering flex time, above average salary commensurate with above average ability, offers training and conference attendance, is a proponent of having the right tools for the job and will provide developer tools and office equipment, and organizes twice annual company get-togethers. The legal minimum wage in Austria for this position is EUR 62,790 – EUR 74,144 p.a. depending on capability. FTS envisions a salary of EUR 85,000 – EUR 95,000 for this position, depending on experience.

  • Must reside in Austria, have EU citizenship or have existing work permit, work from home, meetings in-person occur in Vienna
