The Role
As a Scrum Master, you will support the delivery of a flagship Agentic AI transformation programme for a major UK Telecommunications provider. Working from our Innovation Hub in Athlone, you will enable high-performing, cross-functional teams delivering AI agents, automation platforms, and cloud-native services.
This role requires a hands-on, pragmatic Scrum Master who understands modern software engineering and can operate effectively in a technically complex, regulated environment. You will focus on flow, delivery predictability, and continuous improvement rather than process for process’ sake.
Key Responsibilities
- Agile Facilitation: Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring they deliver real value.
- Flow & Delivery: Monitor delivery flow, sprint health, and throughput, helping teams remove impediments and improve predictability.
- Impediment Removal: Actively identify and remove blockers across people, process, and technology, escalating when necessary.
- Team Coaching: Coach teams on Agile and Scrum principles while adapting practices pragmatically to fit a complex technical environment.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to align priorities and delivery plans.
- Dependency Management: Help manage dependencies across teams, platforms, and external stakeholders.
- Metrics & Transparency: Track and communicate delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and sprint health to support data-driven improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive retrospectives and improvement actions that enhance team effectiveness, quality, and delivery outcomes.
- Proven experience working as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead in software engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban practices, with the ability to apply them pragmatically.
- Experience working with technically complex systems, such as cloud platforms, distributed systems, or data-intensive solutions.
- Strong facilitation and coaching skills across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, and technical stakeholders.
- Experience using Agile tooling such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A delivery-focused mindset with an emphasis on outcomes over ceremony.
- Experience working in telecom environments or large-scale infrastructure programmes.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, or cloud-native platforms.
- Experience operating within SAFe or hybrid Agile delivery models.
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or SRE practices.
