As an IT Systems Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining robust database environments to ensure the effective management of data across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
As an IT Systems Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining robust database environments to ensure the effective management of data across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Migration of Cellar store (the semantic repository of Publications Office) from AWS Cloud to another Cloud provider involving migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- Migrate existing cloud-based Oracle databases (RDS) to PostgreSQL cloud-based databases (setting, data, procedures)
- Removal of Oracle Spatial
- Ensure data integrity, security, and performance of cloud-based databases during and after the migration
- Provide technical expertise and support for database-related issues
- Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and scalability
- Collaborate with other teams and involvement in other IT systems of the OP and the Data Migration leader to ensure database design meets application requirements
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of data modelling and data warehousing
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in IT, of which:
- 5 years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on cloud migration and database administration
- 5 years of experience with database design and development
- 5 years of experience of Oracle, Oracle Spatial, RDS, and PostgreSQL
- 2 years of experience with cloud migration, including data transfer and synchronization
- 1 year Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
