The role
As a Principal Android Engineer, you will drive the technical vision and strategy for our Android platform, ensuring we build scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions.
Your time will be split between hands-on development within a cross-functional team and strategic leadership. You’ll collaborate closely with the Android guild and other platform guilds to ensure best practices and long-term goals.

- Contribute to key architectural decisions
- Mentor and support engineers across teams
- Shape how we develop, deploy, and maintain our Android platform to deliver a seamless experience for millions of users
- Define the technical roadmap and lead the technical strategy for our Android platform
- Align teams across the organization on architecture, frameworks, and tooling
- Write and review code, contributing to both feature development and platform-wide improvements
- Drive best practices, reduce technical debt, and improve maintainability
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning and collaboration
- Work closely with Principal Engineers, Guild Leads, Product Managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities

- Extensive experience developing customer-focused products
- Deep expertise in modern Android technologies
- Technical leadership experience, setting direction and enacting change
- Ability to align teams and create a shared technical vision beyond the Android platform
- Experience mentoring and coaching engineers
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and DevOps practices
- Experience working with video streaming platforms
- Experience working with Android TV
- Experience with AI coding tools and agentic frameworks
- A can-do attitude, sense of humor and the ability to work humbly with others.
