Network Engineer

A growing fiber network operator is looking for a hands-on Layer 2–3 Network Engineer with strong MikroTik experience. This is a field-focused role suited to someone who enjoys deploying, installing, and supporting live networks while working independently.

This position is ideal for engineers who want ownership, autonomy, and real-world network responsibility rather than desk-only support work.

Responsibilities

• Perform field deployments and installations of MikroTik routing and switching equipment
• Configure and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks in production environments
• Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber and Ethernet connections
• Execute turn-ups, migrations, and network changes independently
• Troubleshoot network issues across access and distribution layers
• Maintain accurate network documentation and as-built records
• Work closely with internal engineering and operations teams as required
• Support ongoing network expansion across the Baltimore area

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with MikroTik RouterOS, Cabium and Siklu
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
• Experience with VLANs, routing, switching, NAT, and basic firewalling
• Background in ISP, WISP, or fiber network environments
• Comfortable working independently in the field
• Experience with physical network installs and deployments
