The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, ongoing operation and maintenance of all IT Network Systems and Services. The role also provides Network System administration support for critical security and operational technology.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring reliable delivery of infrastructure for all Network Services
- Design, implement and manage the network and data centre solutions. Implementing effective design and installation of racking, cooling and power equipment and placement of servers in data centres and disaster recovery centre. Hands-on end-to-end solution delivery and support with datacentre, network, and security technologies
- Creating and maintaining controlled technical documentation, reports and records regarding primarily data, and voice solutions.
- Final point of escalation, troubleshooting and fault rectification of high-level technical issues related to network infrastructure and services.
- Managing the analysis of network traffic data and providing recommendations on performance improvements and capacity planning to voice and data infrastructure.
Experience required
- CCNA certification would be advantageous
- Experience in working with network infrastructure typically at Layers 1, 2 and 3 e.g., patching, installation of network equipment etc
- Experience in maintaining and configuring switches, routers and enterprise class network systems and environments.
- Experience with Cisco network technologies and the integration of Cisco and Palo Alto Network technologies
- Demonstrated operational experience of layered enterprise firewalls and virtualised networks.
- Experience in diagnosing and rectifying network faults
- Demonstrated ability to use network-monitoring tools to identify patterns/ trends and report where appropriate.
