📍 Galway | 🕒 12-Month Rolling Contract | 🏡 Hybrid
Are you a frontend engineer who is passionate about building high-quality, user-centric interfaces? Do you enjoy leading UI decisions and setting frontend standards while working closely with product and engineering teams? If so, this role could be a great fit.
We’re working with a leading global technology organisation in the financial services space that is looking for a UI-focused Principal Software Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team in Galway. This role places a strong emphasis on frontend development, with Angular at its core.
What you’ll be doing
- Acting as a UI technical lead, owning frontend design and implementation
- Building and maintaining modern, scalable Angular applications
- Driving frontend best practices, code quality, and UI standards
- Collaborating closely with product owners, designers, and backend engineers
- Mentoring engineers and leading by example through code reviews and technical guidance
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and overall engineering excellence
What we’re looking for
- 10+ years of software development experience overall
- 5+ years of strong, hands-on Angular experience (essential)
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex UI applications
- Experience working in full-stack environments, with exposure to:
- Java / REST APIs (integration level)
- AWS and cloud-based environments
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum ways of working
- Excellent communication skills and experience working at Principal or Tech Lead level
Nice to have
- Previous experience in financial services or regulated environments
- Exposure to modern DevOps and cloud-native architectures
