About The Role

NAGRA Scout is revolutionizing how telcos deliver cybersecurity to residential customers. We need an innovative designer to bridge the gap between complex threat protection and everyday users who lack technical expertise. This internship focuses on creating an intuitive, AI-enhanced interface that empowers telco subscribers to understand and manage their home network security effortlessly, ultimately driving product adoption and upsell conversion for our telco partners.

The Challenge

Non-technical users struggle to comprehend cybersecurity threats, device vulnerabilities, and network health, and identify scams and phishing in their connected homes. Current security interfaces overwhelm "lambda users" with technical jargon and complex data. Your mission is to design an experience that:

  • Translates technical security alerts into actionable, understandable insights
  • Leverages AI to provide contextual explanations and recommendations
  • Simplifies device discovery, threat monitoring, and parental controls
  • Creates trust and confidence that encourages telco customers to upgrade to premium cybersecurity services

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research with non-technical consumers to identify pain points in understanding home cybersecurity concepts
  • Design wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma that simplify complex security information
  • Develop AI-powered interface patterns that adapt explanations based on user technical literacy
  • Create visual language and information architecture for threat severity, device status, and network health monitoring
  • Collaborate with product managers, AI engineers, and telco partners to validate designs
  • Conduct usability testing and iterate based on user feedback
  • Document design patterns and guidelines for scaling across multiple telco white-label implementations

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Figma or other tool for wireframing and prototyping
  • Understanding of UX research methodologies including user personas, surveys, and usability testing
  • Portfolio demonstrating ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and mobile-first design principles
  • Interest in AI/ML applications in user interfaces
  • Fluency in English; French proficiency is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts (malware, phishing, network monitoring)
  • Experience with A/B testing and analytics tools
  • Knowledge of conversational UI patterns and AI-assisted interfaces
  • Previous experience designing for consumer IoT or smart home applications

What You'll Learn

  • Enterprise SaaS product design and telco B2B2C business models
  • Designing for user empowerment in high-stakes security contexts
  • Balancing comprehensive functionality with simplicity for mass-market adoption
  • AI-enhanced UX patterns that adapt to user behavior and technical literacy
  • Cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment

Why This Matters

Telcos are competing to differentiate their broadband offerings with value-added security services. The user interface is the critical factor determining whether customers perceive cybersecurity as essential protection worth paying for—or as confusing noise they ignore. Your work will directly impact customer adoption rates and help families stay safe online.

Application Materials: Please submit your portfolio, resume, and a brief explanation of how you would explain "botnet detection" to a non-technical grandmother.
