YOUR CLIENT
The client is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
Your team will be responsible for managing critical services that are essential to the success and sustainability of the client's organization. In simple terms, they handle transactional communication send‑outs to our customers via email, SMS, and push notifications.
YOUR TASKS
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity and open‑ended problems while ensuring strong support throughout delivery
- Support peers and stakeholders across the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics—participating in ideation, clarifying technical constraints, and driving decisions that balance risks and trade‑offs
- Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead solutions
- Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and contributing to “keep the lights on” and on‑call efforts
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them across the broader engineering organization
- Help develop talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example
- Participate in the team's on‑call rotation (required for this role)
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Kotlin
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL/DynamoDB, and Kubernetes
- Experience defining the technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design
- Ability to write high‑quality, understandable, and reusable code
- Proficiency in navigating and making significant changes in large codebases, supported by strong tooling and safe engineering practices
- Demonstrated ownership of personal growth through proactive feedback‑seeking from peers, managers, and stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with global engineering teams
