Over 30 years, we've grown from humble beginnings (founded 1995) to a global digital lottery technology leader (ASX: JIN), operating in Australia, the UK, Canada and the USA. We partner with thousands of good causes worldwide, helping raise over $290M in FY25 alone. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do.
Our Growth – And It's By Design
Following a series of significant client wins and the expansion of our business through international acquisitions, we're in an exciting phase of growth. To support this momentum, we're scaling our engineering capability and building out our teams to meet increasing demand across our platforms and products.
This growth is driven by a deliberate investment ahead of demand as we support a larger, more complex, and increasingly global business. We're expanding our teams to continue delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
For engineers joining us, this is a chance to work on meaningful problems at scale—from supporting new clients and markets, to integrating and evolving acquired platforms, to helping shape how our platform will grow over time. You'll be joining a business with real momentum, plenty of opportunity to make an impact, and the chance to grow alongside it.
What will you be doing?
You’ll design, build, and optimise the server-side components that power our lottery and not-for-profit solutions. You’ll work on robust, scalable systems, data storage, and APIs that enable seamless, high-performance user experiences and support our partners in raising funds for vital causes.
Working closely with other engineers, quality analysts and product managers, you'll solve complex technical problems and continuously refine our platforms.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑quality back-end software applications that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Implement and optimise server-side logic, data storage solutions, and APIs to ensure robust, scalable, and reliable systems.
- Analyse and improve existing services for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Participate in meaningful code reviews and testing activities to maintain high engineering standards.
- Collaborate closely with other Software Engineers, Quality Assistance Analysts, and Product Managers to deliver features from concept to production.
- Manage your time effectively by breaking down work, estimating effort, and delivering to agreed timelines.
- Produce clear, accurate, and timely technical documentation for the systems and services you build.
- Contribute to system architecture discussions.
What You’ll Be Able to Bring to the Role
- Proven experience in server-side programming and/or scripting languages, with a focus on building scalable back-end services
- Strong understanding of data structures, databases, and designing performant data storage solutions
- Experience designing, building, and optimising APIs that power user-facing applications
- Ability to optimise existing systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Comfortable working across multiple software languages, tools, and technologies, or eager to broaden your stack
- Solid grasp of software engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, and documentation
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work, estimate effort, and meet agreed timelines
- Clear and confident communicator who can collaborate closely with engineers, quality analysts, and product managers
- A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of working in a team environment
- Proactive, problem-solving approach, with a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions
